Goat Herdshares Now Available!

"You shall have enough goats’ milk for your food, for the food of your household, and the nourishment of your maidservants." (Proverbs 27:27)

Herdshares give share owners access to fresh, unprocessed goat milk from our carefully maintained and well-loved herd of alpine goats. Our herdshare owners can come to the farmstead, weekly, to pick up their share of the herd's milk (we milk daily, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation), or we also have drop off locations available, on a limited basis, in Mt. Pleasant and Midland.

Here is how our herdshare program works:

-There is a one-time herdshare buy-in fee of $20.

-We also ask herdshare owners to give us a one-time $10 (refundable) deposit, per share, for four quart-sized glass jars and plastic lids, to be used for their share of the herd milk.

-Each share, priced at $40 per month, entitles the share owner approximately 1/2 gallon of milk per week, either to be picked up at the farm or delivered at a pre-arranged drop off location

-As a gift for joining our family of herdshare owners, each new share owner will receive a bar of goat-milk soap of his/her choice from our farmstead shop (subject to in-stock availability of choices)

-Thus our pricing, depending on the herdshare owner's desired amount of weekly milk, would work out as follows in these two examples:

(i) A prospective herdshare owner who desires approximately 1/2 gallon per week:

-Apply for acceptance to the program via our herdshare waitlist application

-If accepted to the program, pay the one-time $20 herdshare buy-in fee (price for 1 herdshare)

-Pay a $10 (refundable) deposit for 4 milk jars & plastic lids

-Pay $40 per month for 1 whole share (approximately 1/2 gallon per week of the herd's milk--this agreement lasts all milking season, usually for a four- to six-month, pre-agreed-upon term)

(ii) A prospective herdshare owner who desires approximately 1 gallon per week:

-Apply for acceptance to the program via our herdshare waitlist application

-If accepted to the program, pay the one-time $40 herdshare buy-in fee (price for 2 herdshares)

-Pay a $20 (refundable) deposit for 8 milk jars & plastic lids

-Pay $80 per month for 2 whole shares (approximately 1 full gallon per week of the herd's milk--this agreement lasts all milking season, usually for a four- to six-month, pre-agreed-upon term)
